Dog Behavior Training, Dog Aggression

Whether you are getting a puppy for the first time or have raised dogs for years, every dog owner has one thing in common--they all want a dog that is well-behaved.

Here at Knottydoggie, we can help to provide you with helpful information that will make this dream a reality and help your dog be a little more like Lassie and a lot less like Cujo!

How Much is That Doggie in the Window?
If you are getting a puppy for the first time, you may feel a bit overwhelmed with all of the new information that you have to learn. Your puppy is going to require a great deal of work and care in order for them to become the healthy, well-behaved dog that you dream of. Starting to train your puppy as soon as you bring him or her home will help nip bad behavior in the bud and will also help prevent some bad habits from developing.

It's important to keep in mind however, that a puppy is naturally curious, playful and inquisitive. They're going to get into things whether you want them to or not, and they're going to have accidents. Much like raising a child, you're going to have to accept that this behavior is going to occur and it's up to you as the "parent" to teach your puppy right from wrong.

Fortunately for you, there is Knottydoggie. We can help to provide you with helpful information and training tips that will make your puppy the poster child for good behavior rather than a juvenile delinquent! From potty training to basic obedience training, Knottydoggie can provide the information that you need to help make training your new puppy easy.

The key thing to remember when training your new puppy is to remain consistent with your efforts. If you maintain consistency in your training efforts you'll be much more successful and you'll be able to spend more time enjoying your puppies company and not crying over that chewed pair of Prada shoes!

You Can't Teach an Old Dog New Tricks....
Or can you? The person who coined the phrase you can't teach an old dog new tricks obviously never tried. If you are adopting an older dog, or one is adopting you, it is quite possible to work with them if they have undesirable behavior issues. While it is often not as easy as teaching a puppy since those old dogs are usually set in their ways (and which old dog isn't!) with a little time and patience you can teach your old dog not only new tricks, but new behavior as well.

Knottydoggie can help you determine how you should go about trying to train the new addition to your family. Whether it is starting from scratch with a dog that has no apparent training or trying to modify training the dog has already received. Keep in mind, it's going to require a great deal of patience and consistency to re-train your new furry friend, but it is possible!

Just remember, your dog may have spent many years doing something a certain way, so trying to convince him to change will be hard. It will be shocking to your pet to suddenly think behavior that was always acceptable is now unacceptable, and they may become very agitated and depressed if you harshly correct them for it. Have patience with them and show them love, and in no time at all your new dog will realize what it is you want and will want to impress you by showing you how well he can do it.

Every Dog Has His Day......
When it comes to getting a new pet, whether it is a playful puppy or a seasoned ol' gal, it is important to remember that properly caring for your pet on a daily basis is just as important, if not more so than any type of training that you will do.

Knottydoggie can also help you with what's important in the daily care of your pet from nutrition to grooming. Our site is chock full of interesting information that can answer many questions you may have on the basic care of your pet. You can learn about what types of foods are good for your pet and other nutrition tips that will help provide optimal health for your puppy or dog.

And let's not forget the grooming information that is available! No one wants a raggedy and mangy looking dog running around, and what many people do not realize is that proper grooming also contributes to your dog's health. Knottydoggie can help you by providing tips and information on grooming so that you can make sure your furry companion is always looking their best.
